As a Registered Nurse in Aged Care, you will be working as a part of the multidisciplinary team within Ngaanyatjarra Health Service. You will contribute to and support the overall multidisciplinary team to care for Ngaanyatjarra elderly people in a unique cultural context.
Remuneration & Benefits:
- Base Salary: Nurses Award Level 3 to 4 negotiable with experience in a similar position.
- 6 weeks’ annual leave with 17.5% leave loading

About the role:

As a Registered Nurse in Aged Care, you will be working as a part of the multidisciplinary team within Ngaanyatjarra Health Service. You will contribute to and support the overall multidisciplinary team to care for Ngaanyatjarra elderly people in a unique cultural context. You will support the Wanarn Aged Care Nurse Manager in the assessment, planning and care of residents and take charge of the facility when the Nurse manager is on leave.
The successful applicant will have 2-5 years post graduate experience and be a registered nurse who has registration with AHPRA.
The successful applicant will be highly self-motivated and will experience travel by 4WD and plane to the most remote part of Australia and have the privilege of experiencing Ngaanyatjarra culture and learning about the people.
This position is subject to the successful completion of a National Police Check and must hold a current Australian Manual Drivers Licence.

Ngaanyatjarra Health Service is an Aboriginal community-controlled health service located on the Ngaanyatjarra Lands that works in partnership with Ngaanyatjarra people to provide primary health and aged care services on the lands.
Ngaanyatjarra lands:
The Ngaanyatjarra Lands cover a vast area of approximately 250,000km2 in the east of Western Australia, up to the Northern Territory and South Australian borders. The communities we service are scattered across the Great Victorian and Gibson Deserts. Approximately 2,000 Ngaanyatjarra people live in the communities on the Lands. Most people in the region speak Ngaanyatjarra as a first language.
Essential
- Registered Nurse with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency.
- Current unrestricted AHPRA registration
- Recent experience in Aged Care
- Ability to work collaboratively in a multi-disciplinary environment.
- Willingness and capacity to work within a multicultural, safe cross-cultural environment.
- Current Australian Manual Drivers Licence
- Current National Police Clearance
- Ability to travel regional, remote and interstate on unsealed roads by 4WD or by light aircraft.
Desirable
- Relevant post-registration qualification and remote area experience
- Working knowledge of computerised information systems.
- Qualification in Remote Nursing practice, or equivalent.
- Knowledge of current Work, Health and Safety, and Equal Employment Opportunity Legislation.
